It’s nearly eight months on from the decision made last summer for Britain to leave the European Union (EU), and since then, Brexit has been the hot topic in all the media and on many of the lips of the British public.
A decision of this magnitude will always cause much controversy and discussion and will divide the opinions of family and friends. With almost three months into 2017, there is still much continued debate around Brexit, and what implications it will have on our lives. Regardless, of this we all still have a job to do on a Monday morning.
But amongst all the speculation and uncertainty of what may happen, Quantum Marketing Services (QMS) has noticed and more importantly, is experiencing some very positive effects on the state of the UK e-commerce industry.
Last year (2016), the UK e-commerce market hit around the £50 billion mark and is continuing to grow apace, despite the ongoing uncertainty around Brexit and the weakened strength of the pound.
Recent figures for January alone, reveal a very steady start to 2017 and due perhaps to the ever increasing ease of access via smart phones and hand held devices. It recently reported that around 49% of e-commerce transactions in the UK involved a smartphone in 2016, with the expectation that this figure will increase to more than 80% by the year 2020.
Our operations and logistics department at QMS have also noticed the effects of this growing market and the adaptation of our services offering.
Chris Balchin, Operations Manager at QMS said “Order fulfilment and order despatch has been part of our business that has shown steady growth over the last few years, but it seems to have hit another gear in recent months.
“Even as recently as coming back from the Christmas break, we have experienced a sharp increase in the number of new business enquires and our current clients have begun to increase their stock levels to keep up with consumer demand.
“Amidst the somewhat negative news stories we are all reading on a daily basis, it’s clear that the UK e-commerce market is an area of the British economy that is thriving and is proving a real reason to be cheerful!”
QMS understands the pressures that online retailers face and offers a full support Pick & Pack fulfilment package to make sure that there is no compromise in the quality of fulfilment and that customer demands are always met.
We ensure that the key aspects of secure storage, Pick & Pack excellence and strong communications and systems free our clients up to do what they do best, developing their businesses rather than get tied up in collation and logistics.
With a 10,000sq ft. fully monitored 24/365 secure warehouse based just off the A3 in Guildford, the QMS Pick & Pack service can offer the following to any growing online retail business:
